Tasting Tips
The colour is a deep, sanguine, blood red. On the nose is chocolate, liquorice, spice, pepper, apricot and slight menthol. Complex and subtle; the ripe berry fruit flavours marry well with spice and vanilla from oak. The palate is all about soft texture, round, medium body; flows through the mouth until the fine tannins come to a sharp edge.Nice acidity, firm structure with sweet tannins. Oak flavours combine with spices and vanilla on the back palate.
Winery
In 1997 Famed Bordeaux winemaker Jacques Lurton and his wife Francoise visited Kangaroo Island on their honeymoon. THey fell in love with its natural beauty and Jacques recognised its viticultural potential. When Jacques made the decision to establish his own Australian vineyard and winery, the choice was simple. Jacques returned to the island with his good friend David Paxton, a respected vigneron from McLaren Vale, in order to establish his label. The Islander was born.
