This Chardonnay is bright yellow gold with a delicious swirl of fresh nectarine and peach, creamy oak and some herbaceous lime leaf adding complexity. With time a bread crust and nut meal spectrum evolves from the glass. On the palate it is a typically clean and bright fruit driven Chardonnay. A seamlessly classy oak structure backed by a long citrus acid line provide a strong framework for ageing. Again, stone fruit flavours dominate with pastry and apricot characters and a lingering white peach taste. Cellar for up to 10 years

Inspired by the French voyages of discovery to map the Australian coastline (1801-1803) led by commander Thomas Nicolas Baudin, principal Peter Woods and his dedicated team undertook their own joint expedition to discover something truly individual and unique. Defying accepted expert opinion south facing slopes were planted in the Gunyulgup Valley, a well-defined valley running north from Abbeys farm road less than 5 kilometres inland from the coast
