42'S is the central latitude of Tasmania this name reflects our position in crafting fruit-driven wines from grapes sourced from throughout the state. The island state hosts several unique viticultural sub-regions, each area performing differently to climatic variations over the vintages. This wide-ranging scope in grape supply allows us to make outstanding Tasmanian wines every year.
Frogmore Creek Wines viticulture team focus on producing the highest quality fruit with an underlying ethos of environmentally sustainable vineyard practices. We see ourselves as custodians of the land for future generations. We value and cherish the health of the vines and soils as we believe this gives us the best long term outcomes for this vintage and vintages for generations to come. Frogmore Creek was founded on the principle of striving for excellence: in farming methods, wine production and service. Critical climate indicators such as rainfall, temperature, sunshine hours, number of rain days and humidity combine at our vineyards in the Coal River Valley, making it a world class ultra-premium wine region. The accolades from our range of wines shows that our efforts in our vineyards including matching fitting varieties to our true cool climate viticulture practices, are not in vain. Frogmore Creek Wines has two vineyards all based in the Coal River Valley in southern Tasmania. These vineyards are our: Campania ‘Roslyn’ Vineyard and our Cambridge ‘Meadowbank’ Vineyard.
Cambridge: Vineyard Hectares: 10Ha The Cambridge vineyard is situated on the base of the foothills at the end of the Coal River Valley, planted around Frogmore Creek Wines’ Cellar Door and the Restaurant overlooking the picturesque Barilla Bay. The Cambridge vineyard was first established between 1998-1999 and is the differenciated by a smaller diurnal variation than more inland vineyards (milder days and nights) - the moderating effect is from the proximity to the sea (Barilla Bay).
Campania: Vineyard Hectares: 45Ha Well known for being the location of one of the first sightings of the thylacine, also known as the Tasmanian Tiger. The Campania property consists of 1008 acres of which 111 acres are under vine. The vines are planted on various parts of the property, selected for the suitability to each variety. Campania Vineyard consists of 27 different blocks, situated on very different altitudes. The lowest block is planted approximately 80 metres above sea level and one of the Pinot Noir blocks is planted at approximately 180 metres above sea level. Each vineyard block contains differing soil structures giving unique characteristics to each varietal. All blocks were planted with northerly aspects, allowing the vines to receive the most sunlight possible. The 45 hectares of vineyards consist of the following grape varietals: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
